5th Gen 4Runner MOLLE Panels: Standard vs. With Shelf
Share
Rear window MOLLE panels are one of the most useful storage mods for the 2010–2024 4Runner. We carry two versions for the 5th Gen. Both are steel, both bolt in without drilling, and both come with all the hardware. The difference is the shelf.
The quick answer
- You mostly hang gear on MOLLE (pouches, recovery straps, lights, first aid): get the standard panels.
- You also need somewhere flat for soft stuff (jackets, blankets, sleeping pads, the things that never have a home): get the panels with upper shelf.

Who the standard panels suit
Daily drivers and weekend trail runs. If your gear is mostly things that clip, strap or pouch onto MOLLE, the standard panels give you that without anything overhead. They're also the simpler install.
Who the shelf version suits
Overlanders and campers who pack the cargo area full. The upper shelf gets bulky soft gear off the floor and out of the way, so you can fit a fridge, bins or a drawer system underneath.
